We LOVED reading about Paige's story and hope you will too. Check out her Q&A below!
Q: What was your original reason for booking?
“Back before Mizztique Boudoir was officially born-- I had Mel as my wedding photographer. I was so absolutely in love with everything about having her on my husband's and my big day that I was waiting for any excuse to shoot with her again.
When I saw the Boudie Call pop up on my feed, and knew that I would be in town, I didn't even hesitate before submitting for a slot with her.”
Q: Did you have any expectations going into your shoot?
“I knew that Mel was going to work some absolute magic with her camera, that was a non-issue. The way that Mel takes a camera and out pours enchantment is exactly why I wouldn't have anybody else for a boudoir shoot.
That being said, I hadn't ever seen myself represented exactly in that way before, so I wasn't even sure what to expect. I put my trust into Mel's abilities and knowing that she understood what I wanted and I am so, so glad that I did.”
Q: What was it like seeing your images for the first time?
"I was in shock. I went in hoping to at least love ten to twenty images, keeping my expectations low because I know how picky I can be about how I appear on film. I had no doubts that the composition of the images would be perfect, but would I enjoy how I looked in them?
When I tell you that it was difficult narrowing it down to forty, and that each expression and pose that Mel had suggested and captured just had me positively enraptured. I knew I looked good, but it was something else to see how Mel captured that magic."
Q: Has anything changed for you since your boudoir experience? How has boudoir impacted your body image as a woman?
"I had a breast reduction a bit over two years ago, and while that was absolutely the best decision for my health, it can sometimes cause me to struggle with my sensuality.
I'm also a plus-sized woman currently living abroad in a place that doesn't even sell clothing in my size. Being able to see myself in these images and with this representation has reminded me that living in this body deserves to be romanticized— I deserve to be romanticized."
Q: Would you recommend the Mizztique Boudoir Experience to others?
"Yes. It's absolutely worth it.
Trust Mel to give you everything that you might not have even known you needed."
Q: Is there anything else you'd like to add to your interview?
“Photos are forever, and Mel is thorough about taking them. I already look back at my wedding photos every single day, and I know that once I have the album in my hands it will be perused daily as well.
I think it's important to invest in quality things and experiences that will continue to make you feel good about yourself for years down the line, especially when they are able to capture you how you deserve to be.
Do this for you as a love letter for who you are now, but also as a memoir for who you will become.”
